On Friday, 30 December 2016, in the evening at 21:30, in Vilnius, on Kareivių street, at the junction with Verkių street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Ranger registered in Russia and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Ranger (16 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
