On Tuesday, 24 January 2017, in the morning at around 8:00, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Laižuva regional road (kilometre 17.30), a Volkswagen Sharan hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed.
