On Saturday, 25 February 2017, in the evening at 21:25, in Kaunas, on Vytauto pr., at the junction with Griunvaldo street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW and an Opel Zafira. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
