On Wednesday, 29 March 2017, in the morning at 8:16, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 46.61), a head-on collision occurred. Two people died — the 50-year-old driver of the Peugeot and a 26-year-old passenger of the Peugeot. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Peugeot (30 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
