On Sunday, 28 May 2017, in the evening at 22:40, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Antakalnis–Jieznas–Alytus–Merkinė national road (kilometre 57.65), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Citroen C5 registered in Belarus and a DAF registered in Czechia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Citroen (36 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
