On Tuesday, 18 July 2017, in the morning at 10:26, in Panevėžys, on V. Kudirkos street near No. 4, a car hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 75-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of a car (20 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
