On Tuesday, 18 July 2017, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Palanga–Lazdininkai regional road (kilometre 5.01), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Polaris Sportsman 500 and an Opel Zafira. One person was injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the Polaris (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Polaris (less than a year of driving experience). He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
