On Wednesday, 9 May 2018, in the morning at 5:45, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Palanga–Lazdininkai regional road (kilometre 6.35), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Touareg and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 28-year-old cyclist (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 68-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (22 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober.
