On Sunday, 23 July 2017, in the evening at 19:19, in Klaipėda, on Šiaurės pr., at the junction with Kretingos street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG registered in Sweden and a Ford Focus. Two people were injured — the 21-year-old driver of the Ford (treated as an outpatient) and a 21-year-old passenger of the Ford (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz, who failed to obey traffic-control signals. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
