On Monday, 14 August 2017, in the evening at 21:50, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 128.40), a BMW X6 Xdrive 30D registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the BMW (22 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
