On Sunday, 27 August 2017, in the evening at 22:30, in Kaunas, on Savanorių pr., at the junction with Tvirtovės al., a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Mazda 6 and a BMW Serie 5. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Mazda (17 years of driving experience), who failed to obey traffic-control signals. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
