On Thursday, 31 August 2017, in the afternoon at 16:45, in Kaunas, on Vilties street, at the junction with Europos pr., a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 525 and a Volkswagen Golf Variant. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 62-year-old driver of the BMW (33 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.68‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
