On Saturday, 2 September 2017, in the evening at 20:10, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Babriškės–Varėna–Eišiškės national road (kilometre 28.40), a Renault Laguna rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.99‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
