On Friday, 8 September 2017, in the morning at 7:39, in Kaunas, on K. Baršausko street near No. 83, a BMW 320D hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 2-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). One person was injured — a 22-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
