On Saturday, 23 September 2017, in the morning at 9:20, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 213.90), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Honda Civic, a Volvo V50 and a Ford Focus C-MAX. Four people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the Honda (hospitalized), a 21-year-old passenger of the Honda (treated as an outpatient), a 28-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized) and the 28-year-old driver of the Volvo (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Honda (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
