On Saturday, 23 September 2017, in the evening at 21:55, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 59.70), a Citroen Xantia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Citroen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.01‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
