On Thursday, 5 October 2017, in the evening at 19:23, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 56.10), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW, a SPA registered in Bulgaria, a Schmitz SKO 24 registered in Latvia, a Volvo FH12 - 4X2T registered in Latvia and a Mercedes-Benz 923 registered in Bulgaria. One person was injured — a 22-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober.
