On Sunday, 12 November 2017, in the afternoon at 14:55, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Algirdo street, at the junction with Žagarėlės street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 Avant, a Volkswagen Passat and an Opel Astra. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Audi (11 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.54‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
