On Monday, 20 November 2017, in the evening at 22:57, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Utena main road (kilometre 24.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo S40, a BMW X5 3.0D and a Mazda 6. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Volvo, who was driving a vehicle with faults the traffic rules prohibit driving with. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
