On Wednesday, 22 November 2017, in the morning at 9:40, in Prienų district municipality, Šaltupio village, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 23.50), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Carina, a trailer ≤ 0.75 t and a Volkswagen Passat Variant. Two people were injured — the 34-year-old driver of the Toyota (hospitalized) and the 43-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Toyota, who failed to give way when changing direction. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
