On Monday, 13 June 2022, in the evening at 20:30, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 23.43), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz and a Ford Focus. Two people were injured — a 30-year-old passenger of the Ford (hospitalized) and the 30-year-old driver of the Ford (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (12 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
