On Saturday, 16 December 2017, in the evening at 19:25, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 30.28), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and a Ford C-MAX. One person died — the 72-year-old driver of the Volkswagen. The accident was caused by the 72-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.14‰ blood alcohol).
