On Friday, 5 January 2018, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Vilnius, on Kęstučio street near No. 37, a Toyota Yaris hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 82-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 86-year-old driver of the Toyota (20 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
