On Monday, 8 January 2018, in the morning at 5:45, in Kaunas, on Vytauto pr. near No. 89, at the junction with Laisvės al., an Audi A4 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 65-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 62-year-old driver of the Audi (31 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
