On Wednesday, 10 January 2018, in the evening at 18:24, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 28), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Grandis, a Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.27‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
