On Friday, 12 January 2018, in the afternoon at 16:20, in Kaunas, on P. Plechavičiaus street, at the junction with P. Lukšio street, at a yard or parking-lot exit, an Opel Zafira hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 47-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 68-year-old driver of the Opel (30 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
