On Monday, 15 January 2018, in the evening at 19:05, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 41.95), an Audi 80 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 71-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 67-year-old driver of the Audi (21 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
