On Thursday, 18 January 2018, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 101.70), a BMW 318 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the BMW (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
