On Tuesday, 13 March 2018, in the evening at 18:55, in Kaunas, on Karaliaus Mindaugo pr., at the junction with Birštono street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz, who failed to keep a safe distance. She was drunk (1.91‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
