On Wednesday, 28 March 2018, in the evening at 22:55, in Birštono municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 83.23), a BMW X5 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He evaded sobriety testing, had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
