On Wednesday, 5 September 2018, in the afternoon at 13:45, in Kaunas, on K. Petrausko street, at the junction with Radastų street, a Ford Focus hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 72-year-old driver of the Ford (34 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
