On Sunday, 18 November 2018, at night at 1:30, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 3.55), a BMW hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people were injured — a 29-year-old pedestrian (severely injured, hospitalized) and the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by a 29-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway outside a crossing where there are vehicle or pedestrian barriers. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
