On Tuesday, 20 November 2018, in the evening at 18:20, in Utenos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 129), a Volkswagen Crafter hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 61-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (8 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
