On Saturday, 3 January 2015, in the evening at 19:50, in Utenos district municipality, Jasonių village, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 126.85), a BMW 525 ran off the road. Three people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized), a 24-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 18-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.87‰ blood alcohol). A 19-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (2.30‰). A 24-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk. A 22-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (1.43‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
