On Sunday, 9 December 2018, at night at 2:50, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr., at the junction with Raudonės street, a Renault Megane hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 22-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by a 22-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip. He was drunk (2.11‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
