On Sunday, 16 December 2018, in the evening at 19:10, in Plungės district municipality, Truikių village, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 54), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Iveco Daily and a BMW. Two people were injured — the 33-year-old driver of the Iveco (hospitalized) and a 34-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Iveco (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober.
