On Sunday, 6 January 2019, in the evening at around 20:00, in Kaunas, on Žemaičių pl. near No. 62, at the junction with Šarkuvos street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel and a BMW 318d. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 71-year-old driver of the Opel (51 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.84‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
