On Monday, 14 January 2019, in the morning at 8:52, in Šiauliai, on Tilžės street, at the junction with Gegužių street, a Mercedes-Benz registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (28 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
