On Tuesday, 15 January 2019, in the evening at around 18:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 302), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW and a Mercedes-Benz 2553 registered in Germany. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
