On Sunday, 20 January 2019, at night at 2:07, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Anykščiai–Troškūnai–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 52.30), a BMW ran off the road. Three people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized), a 19-year-old passenger of the BMW (severely injured, hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 19-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
