On Friday, 8 February 2019, in the evening at 22:53, in Palanga, on J. Basanavičiaus street near No. 37A, a Mazda Premacy hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 54-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Mazda (5 years of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings. He was drunk (1.72‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet.
