On Monday, 25 February 2019, in the morning at 10:29, in Ukmergės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 59), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Hyundai Starex registered in Russia, a Wielton PC 16KT registered in Poland and a MAN TGA 26.410 registered in Poland. Three people died — the 48-year-old driver of the Hyundai, a 49-year-old passenger of the Hyundai and a 62-year-old passenger of the Hyundai (later died from the injuries). One person was injured — the 63-year-old driver of the MAN (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Hyundai (5 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
