On Saturday, 18 August 2018, in the morning at 10:20, in Ukmergės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 60.35), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-3 and an Audi A2 registered in Netherlands. Two people were injured — the 30-year-old driver of the Saab (hospitalized) and the 34-year-old driver of the Audi (severely injured, hospitalized, had no driving licence). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Saab (9 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
