On Monday, 2 December 2019, in the evening at 20:10, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 98.90), a Ford Galaxy hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 35-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by a 35-year-old pedestrian, who was walking on the carriageway where prohibited. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
