On Wednesday, 28 December 2022, in the evening at 19:45, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 98.80), a Ford Focus registered in Ukraine ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Ford (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
