On Saturday, 25 January 2020, in the evening at 18:04, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on Klaipėdos street near No. 53, an Opel Astra-G-Caravan hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 58-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 65-year-old driver of the Opel (24 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
