On Monday, 27 January 2020, in the afternoon at 16:43, in Biržų district municipality, on the Biržai–Raubonys national road (kilometre 5.34), a collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530, a Toyota Avensis, a Volkswagen Golf and a BMW 3ER Reihe. One person died — the 63-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (was not wearing a seatbelt). Two people were injured — a 21-year-old passenger of the BMW 530 (hospitalized) and the 49-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW 530 (4 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
