On Monday, 31 August 2020, in the morning at 10:14, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 37.15), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a BMW 330I and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 17-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober.
