On Monday, 31 August 2020, in the morning at 10:14, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 37.15), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a BMW 330I and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 17-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
