On Saturday, 12 September 2020, in the morning at 7:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 22.70), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-3 and a Chrysler Grand Voyager. Three people were injured — a 64-year-old passenger of the Saab (treated as an outpatient), a 47-year-old passenger of the Chrysler (treated as an outpatient) and the 23-year-old driver of the Chrysler (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of the Saab (31 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
