On Thursday, 24 September 2020, in the morning at 10:32, in Vilnius, on Nemenčinės pl., at the junction with Saulėtekio al., a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Prius, an Opel, a Citroen Berlingo, a Volvo XC90, a Land Rover and an Opel Astra. Two people died — the 76-year-old driver of the Opel Astra and a 76-year-old passenger of the Opel Astra. Two people were injured — the 59-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and the 41-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the Toyota (31 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
